Maa · founder & first seller

The woman it's named after

Every marketplace has a founder.
Ours has a Maa.

She is the first to wake in our house and the last to sit down — and somehow, between everything she carries, her hands are never still. A crochet hook here, a rolling pin there. Nobody taught her in any class; she watched, she tried, she perfected.

Everything on this website exists because of that stubbornness — the flowers that never wilt, the thekua pressed in patterns her own mother used, the quiet belief that things made carefully, by hand, still matter.

She never called herself a businesswoman. So we built her a marketplace — and named it after what she's done all her life: made, by her.

Some businesses start with a pitch deck. Ours started with a ball of yarn and a mother who couldn't sit idle.

In our home in Aurangabad, Bihar, Maa has always made things with her hands — sweaters in winter, toran for the door, little flowers for anyone who visited. Crochet was never a hobby for her; it was how she showed love.

MadeByHer is that love, made shareable. It started with her crochet — flowers, earrings, hair bands, one hook and one stitch at a time. Then came her kitchen: thekua pressed in the old saancha patterns, khasta nimki fried golden in small batches. No factory, no machines, no preservatives, no two pieces identical.

And then it grew. Her daughter's friends — women running their own little brands on Instagram — joined with makeup and more. Today every store on MadeByHer is run by a woman who makes or hand-picks what she sells, packs your order herself, and messages you a photo on WhatsApp before it ships. From her hands to your doorstep, anywhere in India.
